A few years ago, we wondered to ourselves, “If Boulder County supports more than a dozen breweries and brew pubs, and a handful of wineries, why isn’t there a micro-distillery here yet?” At that time (and still today) the vast majority of the spirits brands stocked at any bar or liquor store were owned by the same few behemoth, faceless conglomerates, and spirits connoisseurs had very few options if they’re searching for a high quality, handmade, small batch spirit.
So, we set to work. Founder Alex Nelson: “I decided to start making gin not only because it’s one of my favorites, but also because gins have tremendously complex flavors and still manage to be extremely versatile in mixology. Most gin contains spices and herbs from around the world, so it’s a truly modern spirit for a global age. Still, the juniper berry (the principal flavor in gin) grows right here in Boulder in the open space and mountain parks, so you can say that the gin we make literally has roots right here.”
We’ve since added Corretto Coffee Liqueur and Imperial Barrel Aged Gin to our lineup–with more to come.
At Roundhouse, we handcraft our products with only the finest, all natural ingredients, organic whenever possible. That’s what makes them taste so great, and it’s just the right thing to do.
Roundhouse Spirits was started in 2008 with this simple goal: Become the Front Range’s premier micro-distillery. Thanks for helping along.
